Imam as-Sadiq [a] said,
"There are seven major sins. They were revealed regarding us, and regarding us they are belittled. The biggest of the major sins is associating partners with Allah, then: murdering a person unjustly, the disobedience of parents, falsely accusing a chaste woman, consuming the wealth of an orphan, retreating from battle, and denying our rights, the Ahl al-Bayt.
As for associating partners with Allah: Allah said what He said regarding us, and the Messenger of Allah [s] said what he said. So they have belied Allah and they have belied His Messenger.
As for murdering a person unjustly: they killed Husayn b. `Ali [a] and his companions.
As for the disobedience of parents: Allah says in His Book, 'The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves, and his wives are [in the position of] their mothers.' (33:6). He is their father, yet they disobeyed the Messenger of Allah [s] regarding his progeny and his Ahl al-Bayt.
As for falsely accusing a chaste woman: they have accused Fatima [a] upon their pulpits.
As for consuming the wealth of an orphan: they have usurped our spoils, which are mentioned in the Book of Allah.
As for retreating from battle: they gave the Commander of the Faithful [a] their willful allegiance, then they fled from him and abandoned him.
As for denying our rights: this is something that they do not argue about."
عن معاذ بن كثير عن أبى عبد الله عليه السلام قال: يا معاذ الكبائر سبع فينا انزلت ومنا استخفت، واكبر الكبائر الشرك بالله، وقتل النفس التى حرم الله و عقوق الوالدين وقذف المحصنات وأكل مال اليتيم، والفرار من الزحف وانكار حقنا أهل البيت، فاما الشرك بالله فان الله قال فينا ما قال، وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه واله وسلم ما قال، فكذبوا الله وكذبوا رسوله، واما قتل النفس التى حرم الله فقد قتلوا الحسين بن على عليه السلام وأصحابه، وأما عقوق الوالدين فان الله قال في كتابه " النبي أولى بالمؤمنين من انفسهم وأزواجه امهاتهم " وهو أب لهم فقد عقوا رسول الله صلى الله عليه واله في ذريته واهل بيته، واما قذف المحصنات فقد قذفوا فاطمة (ع) على منابرهم، أما أكل مال اليتيم فقد ذهبوا بفيئنا في كتاب الله، واما الفرار في الزحف فقد أعطوا امير المؤمنين عليه السلام بيعتهم غير كارهين ثم فروا عنه وخذلوه، واما انكار حقنا فهذا مما لا يتعاجمون فيه (1). وفى خبر آخر التعرب بعد الهجرة (2)
